Relaxation Massage

A good massage can make all the difference. We know the toll that everyday life takes on a person. We know the stress that builds up, tightening your muscles, and making your eyes ache. We know how you yearn to relax and unwind, forget about all your worries, and simply let someone else take the reins for once. Phamtastic Salon & Spa, we will give you the best relaxation massage you ever received. All you need to do is kick up your heels and let your massage therapist do the job.

You can choose an individual massage service or select one of our packages that include a massage. Our trained massage therapist will provide you relief from those tight muscles and stressed mind. We will dim the lights, turn on some relaxing music, and let your mind float while we work. A relaxation massage does not use a lot of pressure. Lightly gliding strokes will ensure that you slowly ease up and let the worries fall away. If you have specific problem areas, be sure to let your masseuse know so that they can focus on those points.

All our massage equipment, including the sheets we use, are high-quality, 100% recyclable, and properly cleaned and disinfected after every use with hypoallergenic detergent. Our therapeutic massage tables are soft – perfect for you to sink into – and the height is adjustable so that the massage therapist can be at just the right position to tackle those sore muscles and knots. Your therapist will wash their hands with natural soap and massage you with natural oils. Make sure you inform us while making the appointment if you have any allergies; we will be ready with an alternative for you.

Rest assured that you’ll find the best massage therapy in Calgary at our salon and spa. Please make sure that you arrive on time for your massage appointment so that you can use the entire time slot that you booked. You can call us at 403-249-3323 to make an appointment.

Deep Tissue Massage

If you’ve sustained a tissue or sports injury, then you need a deep tissue massage to ease the muscles and allow them to relax and heal scarring. Deep tissue massage therapy is usually used to treat musculoskeletal injuries. The procedure involves the application of deep, steady pressure in long strokes. This helps relax muscle tension and breaks down the injury-induced scar tissue. It also helps in blood circulation, loosens knots, and reduces inflammation. Our RMT will make sure to hit all the problem points with slow, powerful strokes and flush out the pain.

Not only will this type of clinical massage help you physiologically, but it will also help you psychologically, allowing you to unwind and relax as the pain diminishes. The deep tissue massage helps with sciatica, chronic low back, tennis elbow, and various sports injuries. While most relaxation and Swedish massages use the fingers and palms to draw out the pain in the superficial tissues, a deep tissue massage also involves the use of elbows and forearms to target the inner layers of muscle and tissue.

Before the massage, our RMT will sit you down and discuss with you what kind of pain you are facing and ask you to highlight the area. You will be asked to lie down under a sheet and expose the problem area. The level of undress will be based on your comfort level and depending on the part of the body where you are experiencing the pain. Still, the area needing the massage will need to be exposed.

Your muscles will be warmed up, and then our RMT will use kneading and stroking motions in varying degrees of pressure to treat your pain. You may experience some soreness afterward, but it won’t linger for long. Using a cold pack or heating pad will help.

A deep tissue massage, however, is not for everyone. Please inform our RMT beforehand if you:

  • have a history of blood clotting
  • are taking blood thinners
  • have a bleeding disorder
  • are pregnant,
  • have osteoporosis
  • are undergoing cancer treatment like chemotherapy

In any of the above situations, you should consult with your doctor before getting this intense massage. You will also be asked to reschedule if you have an infection or open wound so that the condition doesn’t get aggravated. Since this is a clinical massage, your health insurance may cover it.

Hot Stone Massage

Ever seen the massage where it looks like someone’s got a line of snails on their back? We offer that massage, too. But those aren’t snails, they’re round black pebbles that are heated to a specific temperature for a special kind of massage therapy called the Hot Stone Massage. This massage uses smooth, rounded pebbles called Basalt river rocks. These are stones that have become smooth from the river’s current and can retain heat well.

The heated stones are placed on specific points of the body. The heat helps the muscles relax and loosens knots. Your massage therapist may also massage with the stones, applying gentle pressure, and targeting the pain points. The heat and weight of the smooth rocks will help you relax without causing any pain or discomfort. If you feel any burning or discomfort, be sure to let your massage therapist know.

You will be asked to make an appointment for the hot stone massage so that the stones can be prepared beforehand in a professional stone heater and maintained at a regulated temperature (between 110 and 130 F) for the most effective treatment. This massage therapy is especially beneficial if you have anxiety, back pain, depression, or insomnia. It’s a pretty good investment for $150.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a massage therapy that uses the idea that there are reflex points in the feet, hands, and head that are linked to other body parts and organs, and that pressing on those points relieves stress from the body part they’re linked to. This methodology is based on the ancient Chinese belief in the qi, the vital energy that flows through each person’s body. If your body is stressed, it will block the smooth flow of this vital energy and cause diseases. Reflexologists practice the method of focusing on specific pressure points to keep the qi in a state of smooth motion.

At Phamtastic Salon & Spa, we have a trained reflexologist who will work on undoing the ‘imbalance’ in the body caused by stress or some other disease. Reflexology helps to treat insomnia, anxiety, hormone disbalance, and musculoskeletal pain, amongst others.
